In addition to several indirect beneficial effects in the region, the project also operates two direct social service projects.
Analavelona School
The project has started a school for the children of the workers and from nearby villages in 2018. The school has all required facilities and presently has 153 children divided into 5 classes of different levels. Five dedicated teachers are employed at the school and they stay on campus. The students are provided with one warm meal at noon.
In its short history, the school has made a mark in academic excellence in the region. Twenty eight children ended primary school in 2023 and took the state run passing out examination. All of them passed the examination and qualified for secondary school. Two children from the project’s school were among the 4 winners with best marks in the district of Ambalavao. For their performance, they were gifted a bicycle from the education ministry.
Primary Health Centre
The project also operates a primary health centre and a small dispensary at the campus. The dispensary takes advantage of the presence of two qualified medical practitioners among its staff to provide preliminary medical services. The facility is open every morning and has a stock of essential medicines for common diseases in the area, e.g., malaria, bilharziasis etc. Usually, 5-15 patients from among the workers and nearby villages take advantage of this service and receive health advice and medicines free of cost.
